What you can wear in Singapore for monsoon season?

Singapore has two different monsoon periods – the Northeast Monsoon and the Southwest Monsoon.
Northeast Monsoon: It takes place from December – March that has the most frequent and heavy rain, mainly from December to January. Rains usually fall in the afternoon or early evenings. You will probably see nonstop rain for days that may ruin your plans, so be ready with a solution. The pre-northeast monsoon starts from October till November end where you will find cool sea breeze reducing the afternoon heat. Rainstorms usually occur in the evenings.

Southwest Monsoon: It starts from June and ends in September, wherein has a slightly drier climate. We can say it’s an excellent time to visit the place. However, you have to be ready for those strong winds. This season’s rainstorms or thunderstorms occur early mornings. Moreover, the pre-southwest monsoon season occurs from March till May that features heavy early evening showers.

The beginning and end of the monsoon seasons are definite but are separated by the short inter-monsoon periods, which seems to be sudden and heavy. Drizzling generally occurs in the afternoon or the evening. That means you need to do a bit change in your Singapore packing list. However, you’re visiting the country, in this time of the year.

Packing Essentials for Monsoon Season

  • Add your favorite colored dresses to resist the dark weather.
  • A pair of harem pants or leggings, number of tanks, camisoles, and tees with a pair of cute shorts will work in this weather condition. Bring these little clothing in plenty which you can change quickly if one gets soaked through the water.

  • Try to stay away from woven fabric, because it does shrink whenever gets wet as it is insanely absorbent to water.
  • You should try blended fabric such as – poly-cotton, will get some breather.
  • For monsoon season, think waterproof shoes such as – covered sandals, a pair of light, ankle height wellingtons, and shoes with a slight wedge. These kinds of shoes will keep your feet away from the splashes of water and mud that begin to form, once you stepped-in.
  • Do not go for white or pastel colored shoes. Otherwise, they’re guaranteed to end up on a darker shade.
  • Also, don’t forget to pack a sturdy umbrella, when you’re building up your Singapore packing list.
  • Avoid packing a heavy raincoat, since, it will be too warm for the humid country. Instead, you can opt for a lightweight jacket.
